So here we are to write for 5 minutes without worrying if it's right or not!
Belong:
There is something about a community that just draws you in and makes you feel welcome. Gathered in, wrapped in hugs, embraced with encouraging words. Even when you are new, you feel at home.
I found that in Allume, in Five Minute Friday, in blogging, in the God's Sized Dream team, it's community and I belong.
Friends I've never met, but feel so loved by.... Friends I got a chance to meet last October and miss like crazy. There is a welcoming and accepting no matter the background, no matter the country. We are one in Christ... unity.
I blog for community and connection and I find that on twitter and in the comment section of my blog and those of my friends. I always feel at home and I hope that I can help others feel at home, too.
It's great to belong to the body of Christ and the #FMFParty community...
PS. CAN'T WAIT for ALLUME!!!!
and... stop!
and a bonus minute to share a picture because I found out that the lovely Ann Voskamp was hosting Five Minute Friday this week!
Ann makes you feel like you belong! I had the opportunity to meet her at Allume last fall and she welcomed me with open arms... and she called me by my name (how is that for belonging?) ... she also laughed with me, as I fluffed my hair for a picture... what can I say? I wanted to look my best! :) and I can't wait to see her again this October at Allume!
So thankful we get to belong to the family of Christ! Hope you have a great weekend!

DeleteYes... I do feel so beautifully belonged (is that even a word) in this community... and I love your pic with Ann... I have one too... she was a joy to meet.
ReplyDeleteShe is a treasure! and so thankful for community! can't wait to meet you inRL at Allume!!!
DeleteI WISH I was attending Allume or Declare or anything. I'm one of those un-belongers cuz I don't get to go *pouting moment over* lol
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC picture with Anne!! So lucky!
Praying you get to go... someday soon!
DeleteBeautiful photo and words or warmth, Julie! Allume sounds wonderful. Blessings to you!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo. I would adore to come to Allume or Influence to meet so many of you all. But with a newborn, a preschooler, and being a one income family I'm not sure it is in the cards for us this year (unless I win that Influence package..holla!). The Christian Women's online community is amazing. For real.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to Allume last year, it was because of a generoug gift from a blogger I had never met... It's possible! praying you get to one as your kids get a little older!
DeleteIsn't it funny how strangers in online communities grow into friends who make you feel a little less crazy and yes, like you belong? Fun write, Julie.
ReplyDeleteAh, wish I was going to Allume simply to meet all you wonderful girls in person.
ReplyDeleteOh, Stacey... someday, someday soon!!!
DeleteBlogging does have a way of making you feel apart of community. What other place do you have the opportunity to come and share the laughs, joys, and sorrows with individuals you've never personally met. It's a pleasure to meet you Julie. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou were on it this week girl. Up late eh? It's amazing, this community we've found. I can't wait to see you in October. Rock on!!
ReplyDeleteYEs, I was up... very late, but it was so fun! October is coming soon!!!!
Deletenice thoughts.

ReplyDeleteThe experience of belonging...in the body of Christ - The connection is universal....priceless. Thank you for expressing what so many feel for this community. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for Allume! I just had to say that. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou can say it as often as you want! I can't wait either!!
DeleteI so want to go to Allume too!!!!! And yes, I'd be fluffing my hair for all pictures myself! This writing community is definitely a great welcoming & embracing place to belong to. Glad to meet you & so many marvelous others here :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I will be praying that we fluff our hair together before we get a picture together! I've been so blessed by this writing community!
