Today's Five Minute Friday prompt is VIVID
START
The first thing I thought of when I saw the prompt Vivid, was that silly stain remover stuff... have you ever heard of it? does it still exist? I will have to google it when I am done here... or swagbucks... but anyhow... (edit... it still exists...Vivid Color Safe Bleach)
Vivid, Stain Remover, Laundry... Oh, yeah, I should be doing laundry, loads and loads of laundry. With a family of six the laundry never ends, and just when I think I have it done for the day, we all go put on our pajamas and poof, there is more laundry!!
Socks--now those are my least favorite part of the laundry. Do you know how hard it is to sort, match up and properly distribute socks for six people??! especially when 3 of those people are girls, each 16 months apart. And another thing, can you tell my why they don't put tags with sizes inside of little girls tights??! I have a hard time figuring out which girl they are going to stretch to fit, and my poor little girls have gone to church many a time with tights too big that slip off, or tights too small that won't stay up either!! SOO FRUSTRATING.
Back to Laundry... or is it supposed to be Vivid? I usually do laundry on Monday, Thursday and Friday. I just can't do it every day. But even when I get it washed and dried it has a tendency to sit in the laundry basket waiting to be folded until some one needs it or until I need the laundry basket empty for the next laundry day. Folding Laundry is a great TV watching task, but I think I need to do it when my kids are still awake... It's time for them to fold their own laundry, right?
The biggest thing about laundry that I need to remember is to give thanks, that we have clothes to wear, that we have too many clothes in our drawers, that I have 4 little people and one handsome man in my house with me to help make dirty laundry.
How's that for a VIVID (meaning lively and animated) description of laundry!
STOP
I confess, I went over 5 minutes because the words were just flowing, so much better then when I can't think of two words to put together!! :)
LOVE THIS: "The biggest thing about laundry that I need to remember is to give thanks, that we have clothes to wear, that we have too many clothes in our drawers, that I have 4 little people and one handsome man in my house with me to help make dirty laundry." Great thoughts, Julie. :D
ReplyDeleteoh how i wish my laundry room looked that clean lol
ReplyDeleteIt's great! Vivid... and omagosh! I just published a post about laundry! Had to get it up today before I did this fun thing -- because I'd committed myself to doing it -- and I didn't even want to. That's why I got this done late, and ended up right next to you! If you read it, hope you don't want to hit me afterwards! (yike...)
ReplyDeletePossible idea: marking the waistband of each gal's tights with an identifying initial -- and maybe under the toe or instep of each little sock? I learned from a friend, also, to put together matching socks in a pair and fold the one's cuff over the other before throwing into the laundry bin, to keep them together. That has saved me a LOT of digging!
LOL! That is a vivid description of laundry land. I sometimes think that stuff multiplies overnight. :)
ReplyDeleteI am cracking up. As someone who wrote a book called "Dirty Laundry Secrets" and researched laundry and why Christ is referred to as our Launderer in Malachi 3:2 -- I totally get the laundry thing. Not to mention I have 3 kids ol my own. Blessings from 5 Minute Friday.
ReplyDeleteI'm an empty-nester, but I remember the days of laundry for seven. Most of the time I enjoyed doing laundry, then there were other times.
ReplyDeleteSo, so true!! My laundry also tends to sit until worn again...mine and hubs that is. The girls put their own away which has saved my sanity. I've just decided I don't care about what their drawers look like. :)
