So today is FRIDAY!!! and it's been a long week and I'm having a hard time staying awake in the afternoons, but I am making the extra effort to write everyday for my #31Days series! It just so happens that today, I'm incorporating Five Minute Friday as well, because I love my #FMFParty community as much as I love chocolate!! :)
Today's Prompt: WRITE
I've said it before, I will probably say it again. Being a writer was never on my list of "things I want to be when I grow up." However, I enjoy writing, mostly as a means to connect with others. But writing is hard work for me and someday I just don't even enjoy it. I like little writing... short blog posts, quick twitter updates, a small hand-written note to a friend. But working on a 5 page paper for class or a long thought out, re-written and edited 5 times blog post or anything that takes time... not so much.
I'm a rule follower and if I can't do it perfect and according to all the rules, then I just won't bother... And I really know nothing of grammar so I don't even know half the rules I so desperately want to follow.
That's what makes Five Minute Friday so awesome... We are allowed to throw the rules out the window (well, most of them anyway) and just WRITE without worrying if it's just right.
And sometimes the best writing is the writing done when you are writing from your heart, just pouring it out there, getting it off your chest, writing about the things that really matter to YOU! I think that is when writing is true, when it comes from your heart...
And writing about chocolate? That's easy for me, because I TRIPLE HEART chocolate!
So this month is a 31 day experiment of just writing from my heart! :)
Community Conversation: Are you a rule follower? or a heart follower?
Yes, I am working to share one promise every day. To see all my #31Days of Dove Promises head to this page and bookmark it, pin it, or just subscribe to my blog and we can enjoy a little bit of chocolate together every day this month.

rules were made for breaking. :)
ReplyDeletemy misguided mentor, Hemingway, said the goal of writing is simple: write one true sentence. then, once you've got it, write another. then another. in this way you capture the essence of writing.
i think you've done that here. captured the truth about writing. about insecurity and doubt and ultimately, freedom. great job. thanks for sharing!
Love this, Julie! What a fun #31days theme!!! I am always thankful when you write.
ReplyDeleteI am a rule follower AND a heart follower. Yeah, my life is crazy! :)
Julie, love to see the dove words and love your take on them!
ReplyDeleteI love just writing from free thought. Whatever is in my head just letting it be. Great post...
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's OK to break the rules! I'm a former English teacher and I break the rules all the time. I love Dove chocolates - what an awesome idea to share the quotes and write about them!
