full of compassion

Psalm 78:38-39
But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.  For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.

So much I want to say about these verses right here!  I am so thankful that my God is full of compassion!  I need his grace EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!  Even now when I look at my prayer journals (when I kept them on and off) I seem to still be praying the same things, like I haven't learned it yet!  But still he forgives me and turns his anger away!

On that note, I want to have this same compassion for my kids!!  Yesterday was not so good.  I did not turn my anger away! I exploded at my kids, threw toys around and had a little hissy fit!!  I only have them for a little time... I want them to remember me as being full of compassion! ... anybody got some hints on what "works for them"?

  1. Praise the Lord for His abounding grace! He is so forgiving towards me too every single day! It works so much better for me if I do not react but respond. Take 5 or whatever it takes before dealing with the situation. My response is always better when I do! The times I don't WATCH OUT!

  3. I struggle with this too! Sometimes I pretend I am Mister Rogers to make the tone of my voice more gentle and try to think of those understanding things to say. I also remind myself of the story of Jonah: Am I really so very angry? Was I taking the shade of the plant for granted, and now I'm freaking out about a little worm?

  4. I'm so glad the Lord forgives me!! I think we all have these kind of moments. I know that there have been times where I had to go back to my son and ask forgiveness for how I behaved. Sometimes that helps show them that we are sinners too in need of forgiveness.
