Five Minute Friday: Again

Life is flying by! I can't believe it's Friday already! and that January 2013 is almost over!! In the busyness of life this semester (I'm taking 2 classes with lots of writing and reading), in addition to keeping clean clothes in my kids' drawers, making sure everyone gets fed and keeping the dirt to a minimum, my blogging is on the back burner.

I totally missed Five Minute Friday last week... It's not that I didn't write! I did take 5 minutes to write, but I never had a chance to type it into the computer and post it... seriously, my weekend was that busy!! :)  But I'm making every effort to join Five Minute Friday this weekend.  You know the deal...

from Lisa-Jo's blog,

Five Minute FridayWe write for five minutes flat. All on the same prompt that I post here at 1 minute past midnight EST every Friday. And we connect on Twitter with the hashtag #FiveMinuteFriday
No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation.
Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
It started because I’d been thinking about writing and how often our perfectionism gets in the way of our words. And I figured, why not take 5 minutes and see what comes out: not a perfect post, not a profound post, just five minutes of focused writing.

Five Minute Friday Prompt:  Again

It’s here again…
The indescribable feelings of brown and black and gray
The weight of a heavy white
The crushing of dark, dark brown
The cloudiness of gray
The emptiness of black

I long for the rainbow of joy
The bursting of sunshine yellow
The calmness of silky green
The light of a brilliant sky blue

Then the crush and a burst of anger
Shouting in words of red
Explosions of fiery orange

And a frustration of “not again?”

And then I remember
The brown of the Cross
The red of the Blood

And I’m washed white as snow again.

STOP

I combined my Creative Writing homework of imagery poetry with the prompt today...  I edited the version that I submitted for class, just a few additions, polishing, but not much. This is the original, because I'm trying to keep things real here with just Five Minutes.

  5. So vibrant and expressive. I'm a completely visual person, so I get it deep down when you assign character to color and pair it with an emotion. Powerful, my friend, powerful! You have a gift for taking what you see in your mind's eye and putting it to paper.
